Hamid is an amazing prof. Learned a lot about Fortigate and Palo Alto. He also taught me first-year Python. Great guy all around!
Kevin Janes says:
I am a (soon-to-be) graduate of the Computer Information Systems Administration (CISA) program offered at the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT). Hamid is my favourite instructor in the program by far. In CISA, Hamid teaches a Python Course and an introductory Network/Cybersecurity course in first year, and intermediate to advanced level Network/Cybersecurity courses in second year . Not only is he a competent instructor, but he really knows his stuff. He has a plethora of certifications in various fields, and really knows what he’s doing! If you need information on pretty much anything Cybersecurity related, Hamid is definitely the ‘go-to’ guy! I’m pursuing a career in Cybersecurity and Hamid has provided great insight on where to go from here to continue my education. He’s also a very laid back, kind person. Great instructor, great person to be around, and it has been a great pleasure to be in his courses.
Andre Roces says:
Hamid is an amazing teacher. One of the more engaging and memorable courses I have attended during my time at BCIT. He is incredibly knowledgeable about the material from First-Year Python to network security and has kept the courses simple yet thorough, straightforwardly providing each topic. Overall he is a great guy, and I am glad to have been taught by him.
Corey Hoang says:
Hamid taught my class about network security products like FortiGate as well as Python. While we learned plenty of theory, the focus was on the hands-on aspects. We learned how to configure firewall security policies, NAT, VPN and more with practical applications in mind. We learned how to write Python scripts that automate tedious processes like parsing text outputs and configuring network devices.
Not only have I learned a lot from Hamid, but I have gained valuable insight about how networking and security is deployed in the workplace. I thank Hamid for helping everyone he has taught open new doors.
Amir Karimian says:
Hamid is among the top Instructors that I have had in CISA program, if not the one. I can’t really explain much about the experience I had during each semester other than how engaging and clear his teaching style is.
He is there to support his students, kindly and patiently.
To students, Hamid is not a teacher, but a friend who shares his knowledge in an articulate manner.
From Python to Splunk, we have gone through the enjoyable process of learning with him.
Louis Lo says:
Hamid is very up to date and current with the technology he teaches. His labs are very intuitive, easy to follow and hands on. His labs makes you feel like you’ve earned a tool in your toolbag. Hamid is a kind and patient instructor. He is very supportive and will continue to help on your journey into the IT career after your graduation from the BCIT CISA program. The technologies he taught are Python, Splunk, Fortinet, FortiSIEM, Palo Alto and various other technologies, all valued by employers.
Sam Ng says:
Hamid is a fantastic instructor! With his experience in the field of IT, especially network security, he was able to teach his students magnitudes of information in just two years.
He really cares about his students, mentioning that us finding a job after CISA will make him really happy. And fortunate enough, Hamid has helped me find work in IT with an abundance of tips and tricks when applying and interviewing at companies.
A great teacher and knowledgeable in almost everything in IT, I really hope to reconnect with him in the future as my career progresses!!
It has been our good fortune to have Hamid as our instructor for the entire duration of CISA.
I do not believe it would be an exaggeration to say Hamid has sparked our interest–the interest of every student–in security, making a difficult field of study into something very tangible and real. He has generously shared his wide-ranging experience with all of his students and also introduced us to the modern landscape of IT: next-generation firewalls, Clouds, SIEMs, python, automation, and rise of VPNs and remote work due to the pandemic. Hamid knows his stuff.
His laid-back attitude and well organized classes are relaxing and informative. He went to great length to ensure every student had the tools required to succeed in his course. He is competent both as a teacher and an IT specialist. He set up his lab at BCIT with Anydesk, so that any of us could remote in and access standard equipment. His quick and efficient troubleshooting abilities are a sight to see. Hamid is a role model for those of us just entering the field. Not long ago, he went for his NSE7 and successfully passed, encouraging us, his students, to keep learning and go for our certs even after we leave BCIT.
I had never considered pursuing a career in cybersecurity before Hamid’s course, but I am considering it now. Thank you Hamid.
Ivan Cruz says:
I think I speak for everyone when I say that Hamid is one of the best instructors we’ve had in our 2 years in CISA.
Hamid works hard to make our labs as in-depth and hands-on as it can be, giving us the most practice we can get for each product he introduces us to. He tailors the labs to be easily understood and followed while also being able to troubleshoot any problem that arises. We in our class have never seen Hamid fail to fix a problem or issue with his products, further developing our trust and respect for him as a teacher and IT professional.
Hamid’s been a great teacher to us throughout our time at BCIT and I hope to cross paths with him again even after our program ends!
Jason Peng says:
Hamid is a great professor. He tries to keep it easy to understand while thorough providing demonstrations alongside explanations. He uses multiple methods to keep the activity intriguing and fun. During labs, he is always willing to help us and guides us to grasp the concept without putting any pressure. As a professor, he goes beyond what others have done. He also teaches us about the workplace and real life environment. He works to prepare us for the future by instructing us on how to write a resume and shows interest in our well being and success. Hamid keeps it very casual in the classroom making it easy for students to get along with him. He is willing to take feedback and change the course to benefit the students and I believe his ability to learn from his own students is what makes him an amazing professor.
Kace Yuchih says:
Hamid is one of few amazing instructors in the CISA program. He not only provided the latest trend and knowledge in the cybersecurity field, but also helped students with job hunting. His class is fun, engaging, and informative. His advice is insightful and instructive.
I am glad to have Hamid as my instructor during my time at CISA, and I really hope we can stay connected as I take the next step of my career.
Chance G says:
My first class with Hamid was when he briefly stepped into our first year scripting course. He took over from an instructor who was originally going to teach us out of a online interactive booklet that cost us 80USD+. This instructor abruptly left after the first couple classes. Hamid stepped in as our instructor and recommend we refund the booklet. At first this was confusing and was off putting. We learned quickly this was a very good idea.
I was fortunate enough to have him for at least one course in each of semesters over the course of the 2 year program.
In a program filled with… questionable instructors. Hamid genuinely cares for his students and wants them to succeeded. Like other instructors he has the understanding that the IT would is ever changing. Unlike other instructors instead of just preaching that and not staying on top the trends, He actively stays on top of them and relays that knowledge to his students.
Someone with his vast amounts of knowledge and passion could easily have a much better job then teaching in a *basic* IT program at BCIT. Instead He’s doing his best to educate the newest additions to the IT world; So Sincerely thank you Hamid!
He has made another wise awful BCIT experience, into an great one.
JR Patoc says:

He has been a professor of mine for the past 2 years and he is truly all about the learning and progression of his students. He is kind and helps his students with any issues that may come up in their learning including labs. His patience for his students is remarkable and he is always available for help in and out of class. His classes were always fun, engaging, informative, and made his content simplified to absorb. Overall Hamid in my opinion is 1 of the top professors in all of the CISA program and it was a pleasure and privilege to have him teach throughout the entirety of CISA. He is a great instructor with a lot of heart for his students.

Passionate, Knowledgeable, patient and supportive. had a wonderful experience in his classes. he teaches a wide variety of stuff at BCIT and will never disappoint.
Moein says:
I just want to thank you for these 2 years of teaching and helping me learn new skills and more about programming and security. You helped me open my eyes to positions that I never knew existed and got me attached to them. Thank you for helping me and giving us the opportunity to have scenarios with real-world problems in security either working with FortiGate, Palo Alto, and Siem products which helped me learn new and more skills at different times in different scenarios. One of the best instructors I’ve ever met in my life and making these 2 years more enjoyable and fun and made me stay motivated. I will be in contact with you and I wish you all the best.
Thank you very much again, it was a good and fun 2 years with you.
Jesse Rendle says:
I am going to be graduating from the CISA program in a month and Hamid has consistently been one of my favourite teachers in the program with whom I have learned a lot about programming and network security. His courses are engaging and the labs that we went through had me fully engaged with the technology and how to use it. His programming course was done with the industry in mind, teaching us to utilize it to work with networking equipment and use it to scrape logs for info. He has also gone above and beyond in helping me out of hours sending me helpful links and offering advice in my job search. Thank you for everything, Hamid.
Andrew Raghu says:
Hamid Talebi has been my professor during the 4 levels of the CISA program at BCIT.

Hamid is one of the best professors at BCIT. He is patient, so kind, and always willing to help. I could not have asked for a single better professor. He has gone out of his way to help us, and even gone as far as to make sure he knows he is there if we need him. His hands-on labs teach you so much. Hamid is truly a diamond in the rough.
